Happy Anniversary, Car Nuts
As we roll into the 2024 car show season, there are a couple of announcements we need to make.
The Custom & Classic Car Educational Foundation is celebrating its 10th year since inception and the Car Show & Cruise Guide in now in its 15th year. Both are big milestones; one for car nuts to get their show information, and the other for having an organization dedicated to helping to save your favorite hobby.
We have a big section in this issue that revisits the foundation’s successes, and I figured that most of you know what this magazine is all about already.
This edition has several pages of show listings, and the Cruise Night page is back, and will now be known as Cruise Nights and Cars & Coffees. A quick reminder; shows are updated on our site weekly during the season. Check out what’s happening each week here.
Events are listed for FREE in this magazine; all you have to do is email a copy of your flyer, or type up a listing and send to: Dave [@]CarCruiseGuide.com. Be sure to include a contact phone number. If your show is not on our site, itis your fault for not taking the time to send it in. And if you post in one of our Facebook groups, that doesn’t mean it will be in the magazine…. an email ensures that it makes it in folks.
Remember, the Cruise Guide is your best source to find events in Maryland, Northern Delaware and Southern Pa. Part of our mission statement is to help promote events that donate to a non-profit.
We have some large events posted in the magazine that are for profit, and we appreciate that they do spend money to help support the publication. Most do donate to a charity. Well over 95% of the listings are for smaller events that help out church missions, pet rescues, cancer research and even scholarships. We try to list what charity each one supports. Over the 15 years of doing this, millions and millions of dollars have been collected and donated to a charity from show promoters. Please do yourself a favor and ask where the money is going the next time you go to one of these smaller events. Chances are it is going towards a good cause, and not in the promoter’s pocket. It gives you a good feeling to know that you’ve spent your hard earned money to register your vehicle at an event, when you know that the funds are going to a good cause or charity. If this information is not known, ask the promoter where the funds are going, and how much the donated from the last event.
Just for the record at the one event I help out with; Cooptown Car Show, we typically we collect around $4000, and after expenses the $3000 balance is immediately put into the Church Mission’s Fund. This helps local people in need. I do thank you or supporting this show through the years. We are having our 20th Anniversary Show this year and hope you will stop out on June 15th to celebrate with us.
Happy Cruising, Dave
